New Project Alert—1453-1933: The History of Istanbul University Exhibition Part I Designed by architects Sedad Hakkı Eldem and Emin Onat, the Faculty of Arts and Science Building stands as a testament to a transformative era in Turkish Republican architecture, where international modernist trends were harmonized with local cultural elements. Completed in the 1940s, the building marks a significant shift from Ottoman styles to a new architectural language that embraced functionality, simplicity, and a deep respect for the local context. TEATI is now transforming the foyers of this iconic building at Türkiye's oldest university to unfold the story of how modern higher education in the country has developed since 1863. We are exploring the significance of this university as a symbol of progress, education, and the enduring legacy of modern Turkish university while designing bold yet refined details to honor this iconic building.
