Miniatures: Representation of Material Culture Exhibit
Minyatürler: Materyal Kültürün Temsili Sergisi // Miniatures- the one and only form of visual arts of the Ottoman culture- embodies the information about the material culture and life style of its time. For textile depictions, the symbolic meanings of the colors and motifs used reflected the cultural aspect of the Ottoman Empire. TEATI was responsible for temporary exhibition design and scenography. It exhibits the visual art of the Ottoman period. Within the scope of this exhibition, descriptive examples of clothing and fashion culture of classes belonging to different social and cultural groups in period miniatures were exhibited together with fabric samples reproduced using period techniques. The exhibition aims to read the economic, social and cultural history of the period in which the miniatures were drawn, since the fabric chosen, the color used and/or the color are not only technical information.
