The exhibition is part of the Chinese Culture Year-2012 in Turkey and is the first of its kind initiated by the two country’s governments. The exhibition offer a glimpse of China’s 5,000- year civilization staging the history of Silk Road and 101 Chinese relics selected by Chinese curators from major museums in Beijing, Shanghai and Shaanxi province, including the Imperial Palace Museum, Shanghai Museum and the Qin Shi Huang Terracotta Museum. Among them are terracotta warriors and horses from Xi’an and glazed plates used by the imperial family in the Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1911). The Exhibition situated on approximately 500 years old cultural assets. Being aware of heritage value of the building, 750m2 exhibition area was designed via modular/ ephemeral display units and trilingual graphic installations. Exhibition schema and circulation designed on the foot prints of Silk Road- from Xian to Istanbul. Throughout the design process we work with Chinese curators to develop the concept and narrate the scenario.
